From the moment of touchdown, I was in awe of the mountainous expanses that New Zealand boasts. We only had the opportunity to travel around the South Island, but we had a blast exploring Queenstown and the various hiking trails surrounding it. A standout experience for us was an impromptu, challenging hike up Ben Lomond which offered striking panoramic views featuring Lake Wakatipu, the Remarkables, and the Southern Alps. Wanaka Lavender Farm was also a very pleasant discovery and Milford Sound, with its gorgeous aquamarine waters, is absolutely a must-see.
